Alicante Airport, being the major airport for Alicante province and Murcia region, is one of the busiest airports of Spain. It is located at a distance of 9 kilometers towards southwest of Alicante and mostly handles international passengers.
Alicante airport previously had two terminals. However, after the addition of a new terminal, the old terminals have been closed. This new and state of the art terminal became operative since March 2011, and is spread over an area of 333,500 square meters.
